The Wichita Choral Society presents 68th annual performance of Handel's Messiah on December, 2013!
The Wichita Choral Society's 68th annual performance of Handel's Messiah will take place on December 8, 2013, at 2:00PM at First United Methodist Church in downtown Wichita. The chorus is directed by Shawn Chastain, USD 259's Executive Coordinator of Fine Arts, and is accompanied by members of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and features area soloists. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance from a chorus member or at the door on the day of the performance. This is a Wichita tradition that you won't want to miss! The Wichita Choral Society was established by Harold Decker to fill a need for a community chorus in Wichita. In response to letters, advertisements and announcements in local churches, nearly 200 interested singers showed up at the first rehearsal in February 1945.
